ELGI – European Lubricating Grease Institute

The ELGI was founded in May 1989 and is an independent, self-governing institute financed exclusively by its members. It belongs to a group of scientific-technical institutes that deal with lubricating greases and related products in the field of tribology. The institute deals with all aspects of this product group, in particular the technical, economic, ecological and legal situation in Europe. A number of working groups have been set up to deal with important issues in the European lubricating grease market.

International Council for Machinery Lubrication (ICML), USA

The International Council for Machinery Lubrication (ICML) is an independent, non-profit global organisation that promotes the reliable lubrication of machinery and equipment. With its practice-oriented certification programme, it supports lubrication and maintenance specialists in successfully mastering the challenges of their daily work. The ICML plays an important role in the development and maintenance of lubrication technology standards and works closely with ANSI (American National Standards Institute) and ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation).

The laboratory for lubricant analysis offers over 50 test methods and is the most modern of its kind in Europe. Over 200,000 samples are analysed and commented on every year. The database with its results of over 1.5 million analyses is correspondingly extensive. OELCHECK experts also provide support in the selection of lubricants and act as experts in the investigation of cases of damage. The OilDoc Academy was founded in 2010 as part of a spin-off of the company.

The Technical Academy Esslingen (TAE), based in Ostfildern, Germany, has enjoyed an excellent reputation for many years for its practical vocational training and further education programmes. With various business areas ranging from mechanical engineering and tribology to management topics, TAE offers around 1,000 events each year with more than 4,000 high-calibre speakers from research and business practice.
