Viscosity Calculator
The OilDoc Viscosity Calculator tells you the viscosity of your lubricant during operation
Use the new and free OilDoc Viscosity Calculatorto determine the kinematic viscosity of your lubricant for the operating temperature of your system! Additionally, calculate within a few seconds the Viscosity Index (VI) and generate within seconds a VT diagram (viscosity-temperature diagram). This way, you will determine the required viscosity of your oil for all temperatures, even in mixtures!

Utilize the OilDoc Viscosity Calculator…
to determine the kinematic viscosity of your lubricant for the specific operating temperature of your system!
In most cases, the product data sheet provided by the oil manufacturer typically offers the value at 40 °C, occasionally also providing the viscosity at 100 °C. However, since the temperature-dependent behavior of viscosity in mineral oils and related products does not follow a linear relationship, linear interpolation/regression is not feasible.
The DIN (German Institute for Standardization) has established a foundation where the viscosity index can be calculated through a formula, along with viscosity-dependent correction values. This index value describes the temperature behavior of the oil and can also be used to calculate the viscosity at a specific temperature, such as the regular operating temperature of the system or that in direct tribological contact. To calculate the VI, you can freely use an appropriate calculation tool available here.
After entering the kinematic viscosity at 40 °C and 100 °C, the corresponding VI (Viscosity Index) is calculated, and the corresponding VT diagram (Viscosity-Temperature diagram) is displayed, allowing you to read the viscosity of your oil at all temperatures .
Soon, we will provide you with additional calculation tools related to viscosity at this location. Just check back here again!
