Oil and grease analyses not only determine the ageing condition of the oil and impurities. A central issue is also the assessment of the wear situation.

Depending on the type and level of stress, very different forms of wear can occur. Consequently, there are a number of different test methods.

From element analysis and ferromagnetic methods to the investigation of individual wear particles in the lubricant using SEM-EDX, they are specifically tracking down the individual wear mechanisms and forms of wear.

Selecting the best method for a specific question is not always easy and, like the interpretation of the results, requires a certain amount of experience.

In addition to a brief, introductory overview of the most important wear mechanisms and forms in oils and lubricating greases, the appropriate methods are presented.

A series of examples rounds off this one-hour online training course.
