At the end of the year, Rüdiger Krethe traveled to Ivory Coast to conduct a customized, practice-oriented 3-day corporate training course on “Professional Oil Management and Monitoring” at AZITO O&M and AZITO Energie in Abidjan.
Our customer Azito Energie is a major operator of a large thermal power plant with gas and steam turbines near Abidjan, which covers around one third of the country’s electricity supply. The requirements for availability, reliability, and a professional lubrication and operating materials strategy are correspondingly high.
Objective of the training
The aim of the three-day training course was to deepen existing expertise in the field of lubricant management and oil condition monitoring, optimize existing routines, and enable participants to evaluate oil and plant conditions even better and control them proactively.
The content was coordinated in advance and on site with AZITO O&M and AZITO Energie in order to optimally adapt it to the specific systems, operating conditions, and internal processes.
Practice-oriented approach
Particular emphasis was placed on practical feasibility:
- Discussion of real examples from Azito’s plant operations
- Joint review and evaluation of oil analyses
- Discussion of existing processes in maintenance and lubricant management
- Development of approaches for optimizing monitoring and maintenance strategies
This ensured that the knowledge acquired could be directly applied in everyday operations and maintenance.
Benefits for Azito Energie
The training enables the teams at AZITO O&M and AZITO Energie to
- Assess oil conditions more specifically,
- Identify causes of damage earlier,
- extend oil change intervals;
- reduce the risk of unplanned downtime and
- to ensure the long-term availability of the power plant.
Structured and professional oil management is an essential component of plant reliability, especially for a thermal power plant with gas and steam turbines that plays such a significant role in the national power supply.
Conclusion
After three intensive days filled with numerous technical discussions, practical examples, and a highly engaged group of participants, Rüdiger Krethe draws a thoroughly positive conclusion.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to AZITO O&M and AZITO Energie for their trust, open cooperation, and the great interest shown by everyone involved—and we look forward to further joint projects in the field of professional oil management and monitoring.
